Tata Aircraft Complex Inaugurated in Gujarat by PM Modi and Spanish PM Pedro Sanchez

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez inaugurated the Tata Aircraft Complex in Vadodara, Gujarat, which will manufacture the C-295 military aircraft.

This facility represents India's first private sector aircraft assembly line for military use and is part of a significant defense collaboration between India and Airbus.

The agreement, signed in 2021, involves the production of 56 C-295 aircraft, with 16 being delivered directly from Spain and the remaining 40 to be assembled in India by Tata Advanced Systems Ltd (TASL).

The Vadodara facility aims to achieve 78% indigenous content by 2030, enhancing India's defense self-reliance.

The C-295 aircraft, which will replace the Indian Air Force's older HS 748 Avro fleet, is designed for diverse operations, including para assault and rescue missions, thanks to its ability to carry up to 72 troops or 50 paratroopers.

The Tata Aircraft Complex's establishment not only boosts India's aviation capabilities but also reflects a broader push for defense sector indigenization, supported by collaborations with several Indian companies and MSMEs.
